Shielding materials 1
Now that we know what we have to shield and where, we may consider what materials we are going to use.
One effective and cheap way is the so-called *life-saving emergency couverlet*.
It is a small package, like in
the picture.
De 1 Euro coin aside is to show the dimension.
It is for sale in a lot of camping shops.
2.20 m x 1.40 m costs ca. 4 Euro.
One side is silver- and the
other is
gold colored.
It is a polyester film, on which
metal has been
brought on.
This film can be applied to
your curtains in the
bedroom with the help of doublesided tape.
Sewing is not good, because the film wil rupture.
If the amount of radiation is
small and t your
electrosensibility also small, than you can try
this voliere wire netting.
This netting has an opening of 1/2 " (12,7 mm).

One can also buy canopies.
Thes are placed around the bed.
One can construct them yourself or buy them already made.
In general the shielding is not so high, unless one buys the more expensive
ones.
Many sensitive people experienced negative feelings inside such canopies.
It is not quite clear what the reason is,; it could be, that the body heat
cannot get out sufficiently, that not enough fresh air is coming in, that
because of the silver in the used material causes something with the air-ions,
or that the cosmic radiation is shielded off, is still unknown.
My preference goes for shielding against the walls and windows.
In any case, I recommend in
a place, that is heavily shielded, in placing a
simple Earth Frequency
Generator. That consists of a small box, that with a 9V
battery radiates the Schumann frequenty of 7.83 Hz.
That is the earth frequency; astronauts take them also with them when they
go into space.
At Links a number of suppliers are mentioned.
At last we come back at the
aforementioned points.
Did you measure correctly?
Did you pay attention to certain
reflections?
Because if you did not, you
will get double radiation.
Because you then look into the reflection, and than the situation is worse
than before..
There can be also some nasty
*hotspots*.
Those are small concentrations
of radiation beams, mostly the size of a small football.
They can be found
only with a magnetic *Schleifenantenna*.
When they are situated on your favourite armchair or on your bed that can have very unpleasant consequences.
Therefore it is important to
know how much radiation is there; much radiation requires much dB. What frequencies
are present? With GSM 900 (that is close to 1 GHZ in the graphic) shields
this material with 21 dB. With GSM 1800 is that 14 dB. The more shielding
is required, the more expensive the materials will be.
There are also materials that
shield 50 dB; there are also, who bring at higher frequencies higher values.
There are now materials that shield 120 dB.
There is waalpaper, tecxtures, fabrics, foils, transparent films, curtains and even paint, by with the layer thickness one may stipulate the desired shielding in dB.
Prices vary from 5, 6, 13, 28,
35, 40, 50 Euro per m2 for the different sorts of materials. As basis several
materials are used like carbon, silver, copper, and they are used together
with other materials.
The differnce lies in the used material and the appearance.
Not everybody wants a glass texture against the wall, or window, like the
middle picture below. For everything is a price tag.
There is a large gamma of shielding
materials, with all different
properties.
Many manufacturors recall loudly shielding:
99%, 99,9%, 99,99%, 99,999% etc. But
that is not clear.
The shielding factor in dB seems
more understandable.
15dB = 97% - 20dB = 99% - 30dB = 99,9% - 40dB = 99,99%
50dB = 99,999% -
60dB = 99,9999%
Much more
obvious is a graphic like the one at the
right.
On the vertical axis is the shielding
in dB and horizontally
are the accompanying
frequencies.
We can see that the curve is downslope. It starts at 0,2 GHz, or
200 MHz and has there 30 dB. But at 3 GHz it has only 10 dB.

Shielding textiles are available
where silver wire is used.
The upper images show a few examples, but there is a lot more available.
